The Fureys

The Fureys are famous for being one of the most influential Irish folk bands who were at the forefront of  popularising traditional Irish music. The band began with the four Furey brothers Eddie, Finbar, Paul and George in 1978 and were later joined by Davey Arthur. They had a string of hits including “When You Were Sweet Sixteen”, “Lonesome Boatman”, and “The Green Fields of France” and became the first Irish folk band to enter the British Charts with the 1981 release of “When You Were Sweet Sixteen”.

The lineup has changed over the years, Finbar departed the group to pursue a solo career in the mid 90s and Paul tragically died in 2002. The group  is now comprised of  Eddie, George and Davey Arthur and they continue to tour regularly, performing as The Fureys & Davey Arthur.
